A Sunday's Night Activity

On Sunday, Kristine came over.
We made caramel apples.
How fun.

This is what we made.

And here is a prettier picture.

Don't ya just love them?

Kristine packaged hers up all cutesie, like so.

But mine is just going to be devoured. tonight.
Christian and I will eat them together and maybe we'll consider it FHE.

We also made "Turtle Corn." Basically you take popcorn and douse it in caramel and chocolate and nuts. You can see the finished product below in all its glory.
It was heavenly, though there is probably still some stuck in my teeth from last night.

Oh, the sacrifices I have to make.

P.S. popping your own popcorn in a pan is probably the funnest part. you should try it.

You can find the recipe here.

Progress

Some progress has been made, I assure you... but not as much as I'd like.

So far we've taken this

and this

which gives us this

So everything is primed and ready for assembly. I just don't know when that assembly will actually take place. And then it will be painted its final colors. I'm excited for that day.

Perpetually Unemployed

So, I have come to the conclusion that I don't think anyone will ever hire me for a job. Ever.

Now that that is out of my system, let me just say that I am smarter, harder-working, and just overall more amazing than I must appear in interviews. Seriously. Who knows, maybe they think I am just too good to work at their company. (sigh)

Well, any suggestions?

Anyways, new topic. Obsessions.

I am currently obsessed with thinking about, googling, reading about, talking about, and basically forcing Christian to listen to me about the following topics:

one. babies. I mean who is married, mormon, living in utah and NOT obsessed with them?!

two. buying a new car. namely buying me a car. I know that I don't have a job, any money, or even a reason for a second car. but I want one and I want it now, especially so that we can drive home for Christmas without dying on the snowy mountain roads.

three. pet-friendly apartments. basically the impossible dream. so far, I have found only 2 apartment complexes in provo that allow pets, and I have been looking for a while. I mean is it really that unreasonable to want a nice apartment that will let me have a small puppy. I guess so. unless anyone out there in cyber-space knows something I don't know, I guess we will have to wait until we actually own a place to live. sad thought.

four. puppies. i know, i know. practically the same as good-ole number 4. But i can't seem to get enough of stalking the cuties at the pounds. I mean look at this adorable little guy...

I think you see my point. or maybe not, either way... i want one.

Indeed, there are many more obsessions to add to this list but I will stop. Not only for brevity but also to preserve my appearance of sanity. So... what are you obsessed with?

Empty Nesters

Photos from when Mom and Dad came to release the last of their flock to Utah (aka Steve going to college) and officially become empty-nesters ...

Christian has gotten in the habit of stealing loads of toothpicks from restaurants and stashing them like a squirrel stashes nuts ... i think there is a pile of them in every purse I own.

Sad to see Mom and Dad go...

We love you, Goodwood

Just in Time for Halloween

actually, this was like a month ago but oh well...

The Greatest Show On Earth!

Here are some pictures from our trip to the Circus last weekend. I was pretty excited because I haven't ever been to the circus and it ended up being even better than I thought it would be. It was just so amazing ... I would definitely recommend it to anyone!

The flag for the National Anthem

I loved the elephants!

Us before the show started

This was at the beginning ... I love how the elephants hold each others tails when walking!

There are 7 motorcycles in here ... it was so crazy. It looked absolutely impossible after they had started with only 4 motorcycles but then they did 7. And no one even died!

Overall, I give the circus 2 thumbs UP!

Houma, Louisiana

Ok, so here are a few pictures that I got from my New Orleans trip. Actually, all these photos are from our side trip to Houma with the LDS members who own a Oyster Processing Facility there. They took us out to there "fishing camp" out on the bayou, where we spent the night and then went fishing the next day.

So this was one of the boats we took out. Here we are leaving the city and heading down the bayou.

Here are some fishing, shrimping, oyster boats along the side of the bayou.

Sunset

Some of the other "fishing camps" along the bayou.

One of the 35 lb fish someone caught. It's pretty ugly.

A fish we found caught on an alligator trap, swimming around with a buoy stuck to it. I forget what its called but they look like they have an alligator's mouth.

A sandbar/island we stopped at out in the Gulf of Mexico.

It was covered in pelicans.

These babies hid on the ground while the mamas flew around above us. It took us awhile to see that there were these little guys hiding everywhere. You couldn't see them if they were just lying in the sand but this one didn't realize he's lying in a pile of stuff the wrong color. They were pretty darn cute.

Some more of the fishing camps along the bayou.

Here is the camp we stayed at. They bought it after Hurricane Katrina. It was pretty nice. Two bedrooms, air-conditioning, satellite tv. It was pretty fun.

Here was my first and only fish (I stopped after I caught one). A little catfish. They chopped it up and stuck it in the crab cages.

"The Miane Lobster Game"
This was at the Seafood place we went to dinner.

One of the many (and I mean MANY) plates of boiled crawfish, shrimp, and crabs.
We also had raw oysters, grilled oysters, crawfish gumbo, fried alligator, and the list goes on and on. There were about 10 people there and enough food to feed at least 20 people. It was insane and quite gross, if I might add.

And here is me at the dinner table trying to fill up on the non-seafood items, such as vegetables and lots of them. I did try almost everything (except the raw oysters) so don't be too disappointed in me.

Here is the whole BYU group that went to Houma. Here we are in front of the Oyster Processing Facility after our tour. The company is called Motivatit.

And that's it. I don't have any pictures myself because I forgot to bring my camera so when/if I ever get anymore pictures of actual New Orleans, I'll post those too.
