Happy Halloween

For Halloween, I decided I wanted to make Lilly a costume. I saw a cute Little Red Riding Hood costume online and thought it would be perfect. I made Lilly a red hooded cape from a wool skirt I got a Goodwill for $3. I then made a skirt and apron from fabric I already had. She wore just a white onesie for a shirt and then I bought her some shoes from Walmart. She was just soo cute and we got a lot of comments agreeing with us. To make this a family theme, Christian dressed up as the Big Bad Wolf disguised as Grandma and I was the Hunter who rescues her.

For me, I already had everything except the vest and hat. I got the vest at Goodwill and was going to make a hat but then I found one at Walmart and just decided to buy it.

Jeg hadde allerede alt jeg trengte for mitt kostyme. Jeg kjøpte vesten på "Fretex" og skulle lage en hatt, men så fant jeg en billig en på Walmart og kjøpte den istedet.

For Christian's costume I got the nightgown at Goodwill and made the cap, ears, and tail.

For Christians kostyme kjøpte jeg en nattkjole på Fretex, men laget hatten, ørene, og halen selv.

Happy Halloween!
and Happy Sunday.

Halloweenified

In order to up the Halloween factor around the apartment, I decided to add a little fun to our family picture wall via paper cutouts. Check it out.

To halloween-ify even more, I updated the computer background to Vampire Lilly. Check out those teeth!

And to top it all off: paper bats. Which Lilly loves. She points to them all day long. And it is super cute to watch her point, trust me.

Stay tuned. Tomorrow I will show the final Halloween costumes that we wore to our Trunk-or-Treat.

Lilly is a true Norwegian!!!

Today Brittany got me some "Turkish Pepper," which is a type of Norwegian salty licorice, and regular real, black licorice. It was time to test Lilly's true Norwegian-ness and see if she would like it. Here are the results.

I dag fikk jeg Tyrkisk Pepper og svart lakris. Jeg bestemte meg for å se om Lilly liker lakris, og for å test hvor norsk Lilly er. Her er resultatet:

Stage 1 - Introduction | Steg 1 - Introduksjon

Stage 2 - Need more! | Steg 2 - Vil ha mer!

Stage 3 - Taking control | Steg 3 - Tar kontroll

Stage 4 - Loving it! | Steg 4 - Elsker det!

Stage 5 - Thanks! (With a kiss...) | Steg 5 - Tusen takk (Med et kyss...)

Stocking Up at the Library

Last week I heard about a sale at the Library. I really wanted to go. I had heard about these in Provo but never ended up going the 5 years I lived there. I decided this was the year to go check one out. So this morning we did. And let me tell you it was AWESOME. And huge! Depending on the book, they were $0.50 for paperback, $1 for hardback, or a little more if they were newer or nicer. Basically, they were cheap. They even had artwork, cds, movies, books on tape, maps, etc.

My main goal was to get Lilly some new books for her birthday next month. Let's just say that I accomplished that. Plus some.

The pile in the front is for Lilly. The pile in the back on the right is for me and on the left for Christian. Plus the two brown bags. Those were like grab bags, they were labeled with a genre and were $1 each. I got a mystery one and Christian got a Sci-Fi one.
The books on the left are the ones I picked out. The books on the right are all the books I got from my bag! 19 books for one dollar. Amazing. And almost all of them look like something I would read. And a couple of them are even hardback.
Here is everything we scored. We did end up spending about $35 dollars but we got close to 50 books.

I'd say that is one heck of a deal.

Texas-sized Storm

Thanks to the pouring rain that stayed all-night long and the crappy apartment we live in, our hole in the roof turned into a hole in the ceiling.

BEFORE
AFTER
And if you are interested, you can check out the storm below. It was the craziest one we've had yet so we had to videotape it.

Rain, Rain Go Away

It has now been raining for the past 2 hours. And the roof is leaking. The apartment managers didn't care the last time we told them this, so I doubt they will care this time. Except that this time we've already soaked through 2 full-size bathroom towels. In only 2 hours. Also it is just dripping/pouring down the wall so we can't even stick a bucket under there. Ugh. I hate this place. Will someone please buy me a house?

Halloween Preview 2010

Here is a little preview of Lilly's first ever Halloween costume. I bought a $3 skirt from Goodwill and transformed it into this little piece for Lilly. Soo cute, right?

Well, the hardest part was not making the hooded cape but trying to get a good picture of Lilly while wearing it. She absolutely detests having the hood on her head. So here is a little glimpse into what happened before I got the cute shots above.

So sad. I guess Little Red might be cape-less this Halloween. Too bad because it is so cute.

Destructo-Lilly

I haven't given a Lilly update in a little while so I thought I'd let you all in on what is going on in her world.

-Lilly is getting quite good at destruction. She has a God-given gift to empty all cabinets, bookshelves, baskets, etc in the blink of an eye.

-Lilly now has four teeth. And she has learned how to use them. She will now bite chunks off her food. And my hand occasionally.

-Lilly is now quite efficient at cruising. She can walk almost anywhere, as long as she has something to hold on to.

-Lilly is starting to stand up all by herself, without the help of anything or anyone. She also enjoys standing in the bath, on the bed, on the desk, on the couch, etc.

-Lilly is a formula-holic. Since she was weaned a month or so ago, she has become quite enamored with her formula. When she hears that cup shaking, she gets so excited she can't sit still or be quiet. The sound she makes is practically a whine, which she doesn't stop until she gets that formula.

-Lilly is very afraid of the vacuum. Previously she was scared of it and would start crying whenever I vacuumed, even if I was also holding her. But I think she was starting to get over her fear. Until one day last week when the vacuum was plugged in and she accidentally turned it on. It scared the willies out of her and now she is more afraid of it than ever. She even freaked out when I just wound up the cord and didn't even turn it on.

-Lilly also can recognize the names of most of her stuffed animals. If we ask her to get a certain one, 90% of the time she will bring that one back to us. I'm certain she knows the names of all of them but sometimes she just doesn't want to listen :)

-Lilly also loves dogs, stuffed animals, meat, going on walks, going down slides, her mom & dad and skypeing with the grandparents.

Well, that is what is up with Lilly. I will leave you with some shots from our photo shoot from yesterday. Peace.

Lilly at the Orchard

Last weekend we decided to go and visit the local Apple Orchard. Thankfully, it was the funnest excursion we have had so far living in Lubbock. I definitely want to go back next year. Here is a little look into our trip. Sadly we forgot the real camera, so these are phone pictures.

No, she did not eat all that apple. Christian took a couple bites out of an apple and gave it to Lilly suck on.

Christian and his juggling skillz.

Lilly is always super excited when she sees dogs.

They even had these cool grey pumpkins. I've never see those before and I really wanted some!
Our other treats, in addition to the 10 pounds of apples we picked. (We just couldn't stop ourselves! Apple pie here we come )
And a little video of the little one.
