Christmas Numero Uno

This year we started our Christmas festivities a little early. During Thanksgiving, Tove (Christian's mom) had given us some Pinnekjøtt (salted lambs ribs) to prepare a traditional Christmas dinner here in Lubbock for ourselves and Thomas (Christian's brother). So a couple days before we left Lubbock for California we had our Norwegian Christmas meal. It was my first time cooking it but I think they turned out fine. We also had boiled potatoes, corn, with some American classics mixed in, stuffing and green bean casserole.

Thomas's birthday is on December 23rd so since we weren't going to be in Houston we had a little pre-birthday celebration after dinner. Christian went and picked out the pink and black cake. Just what any guy wants. Oh, well. At least it was an ice cream cake. Sadly this was only one of two pictures we took that day.

After that, Lilly opened her present from Thomas. It was the cutest little Christmas outfit I've ever seen. Striped red and white pants, a top with a bow-adorned Christmas tree, and a red tutu. (sorry, no picture of the outfit)

The next day we opened most of our presents from each other and from Christian's parents because we were flying to California the next day and decided to not bring a whole lot with us.

Our Christmas tree.
Lilly's new ornament for this year. A cute little wooden snowman.

As we were moving presents away from under the tree, we found our first (and really, only) unwanted gift. A cockroach. I thought he was dead since he was upside down but apparently I must have flipped him or something because as Christian went to get it, it started squirming and trying to get away. Gross.

Lilly has definitely gotten the hang of opened her presents this year, especially since she had lots of practice from her birthday not even a month earlier.

She really enjoyed ripping the paper off her presents. She even liked to try and open gifts that were not hers, but of course we let her.

(Sorry some of these are blurry. I'm about the worst photographer out there)

The giant mess afterwards.

And of course, a big Thank You from Lilly herself for all the presents and love!
